Club achieves 2 star accreditation from Football Association

Over the last year we have stepped up our coaches’ training
- Helen Thawley

Haddenham Youth Football Club (HYFC) received confirmation this week that it has been accredited again by the Football Association (FA) at 2-star level.

The status means HYFC teams can continue to participate in leagues, cups and tournaments.

Club Secretary Helen Thawley said:

“Over the last year we have stepped up our coaches’ training, going beyond DBS checking and safeguarding training for all, and ensuring that every team has at least one fully qualified coach, with training in first aid and the introduction to coaching football course as a minimum.

“We have also created a sustainable club by offering full female and male player pathways. Our Club Development Plan lays out our vision and plans for the future.”

HYFC is now affiliated to Haddenham United FC, providing a player pathway from U6 to adult football. Haddenham Ladies and Walking Football are already part of HYFC. A fourth Girls’ team was added this season and there are exciting plans for the further development of Girls’ football.

The Club is currently working with the County FA and local club partners on creating a PAN-Disability team. Arrangements for a Player’s Committee will be announced at the Club’s Presentation Day next month.

Among the measures that accredited football clubs have in place are:

• Safeguarding and first aid, including qualified Club Welfare Officer
• Constituted Club organisation with clear rules
• Adoption of Equality Policy and the Football Leadership Diversity Code
• Adoption of Codes of Conduct and FA Respect standards
• Sound financial management
• Good discipline
• Club Development Plan
• Fully recorded Club meetings
• Good communication and engagement with Members.

FA accreditation recognises that our infrastructure is sound, robust, efficient and effective. We offer all players the opportunity to fully access the best of football in a well-run, high quality, safe and sustainable environment with pathways to progress. It also recognises that the Club is centred around the FA’s Respect standards and behaviours.

The FA says that players, coaches and volunteers in an accredited environment are more likely to stay in the game and develop a lifelong passion for football. Players have fun, learn, grow and develop together. FA accreditation confirms HYFC creates maximum opportunities for everyone to participate, regardless of background, ability, skin colour, gender, sexual orientation or age.
